Volatility in the Games Industry
Publishing / Business
Date : Tuesday, October 29th - 13.00 - 13.30 > Room 1
Description: Having been in the industry for many years on the inside and out, I have experienced the volatility that comes with working in studios that 'do business as usual' right up until the day of overnight collapse - ie: the award winning studio Telltale Games is a recent example. This session is an eye opening to chat about how the reality and how this is becoming part of working in the industry and how not to fear studio closures, what needs to be done to help affected talented employees to deal with these recurring situations.
I now represent Foxnext Games, and am the Director of Talent Acquisition, overseeing Fogbank (San Francisco) StoryScape, (mobile), Cold Iron Studios (San Jose) Aliens PC, and Foxnext Games (LA) Award winning, Marvel Strike Force (mobile) and soon to be released Avatar (mobile).
Audience: This would be beneficial to anyone working in the games industry, anywhere in the world.
Attendee Takeaways: The hope is that attendees will walk away from this session with a feeling of ease and understanding of how the businesses reach decisions of change, reduction in staff and closure.
