Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The future of online community management means context is king

Date : Tuesday, October 29th - 11.30 - 12.00 > Room 2

Description: With the ever-changing nature and increasing subtlety of online abuse, how can progressive games developers and community managers keep pace with the trolls? With traditional methods of moderation struggling to stay on top of the challenge, what can AI bring to the table? And how can we use new technology and AI to maximise customer engagement and revenue to ensure our online communities are fit and future-ready?

Audience: Community Management, Game Directors, Operations, Management at game developers

Attendee Takeaways: The session will demonstrate how important it is for game developers and publishers to truly understand what is going on within their community and what they are saying about their game. However a traditional redactive approach to chat moderation will only be able to deal with a certain kind of abuse, swearing etc. If you want to gain a true understanding of both negative and negative sentiment, a more contextual approach is required which can only be executed using Natural Language Processing and AI.
